Playoff Tie Breaker Methodology

Division Winner - Order of Tie Breaker :

  • Best Overall Winning percentage (ties counts as 1/2 win, 1/2 loss)
  • Best combined head-to-head record of teams involved (they are all inner division, so they are all equal)
  • Divisional Record
  • Conference Record
  • Point Differential
  • Points Scored
  • Least Points Against

Wild Cards :

This method is used recursively. So, if there are 2 spots, the first team is chosen AND THE REMOVED FROM THE EQUATION. The second team is then selected.

  • Best Overall Winning percentage (ties counts as 1/2 win, 1/2 loss)
  • IF ALL TEAMS TIED HAVE PLAYED ONE ANOTHER - If one team has a winning record over all others they have the same winning percentages as, they are chosen.
  • IF ALL TIED TEAMS ARE IN THE SAME DIVISION - Divisional Record
  • Conference Record
  • Point Differential
  • Points Scored
  • Least Points Against

Note:After divisional winners are selected, teams eligible for wildcards are listed in the order they would get the wildcard (not they order they would win the division).
